GENERATION EARTHSHOT INSPIRE SCHOOL CHILDREN AT COP26

Media www.rajawalisiber.com – Today, an Earthshot Prize Winner & Finalists took part in a Generation Earthshot event at COP26 with local Scottish school students to inspire the next generation to think creatively about the world’s greatest challenges.

Generation Earthshot – a collaboration between The Earthshot Prize and World’s Largest Lesson – hosted the biggest schools event at COP26 for local school students exploring how to generate ideas and take action to repair the planet, learning from the first-ever Earthshot Prize Finalists.

The Earthshot Prize Winner & Finalists were interviewed by local students to share stories of how their innovations are tackling the world’s greatest challenges.

The Prize Winner & Finalists include:

  • Sam Teicher, Co-Founder of Coral Vita, Bahamas- A truly cutting-edge breakthrough in coral farming that can restore our world’s dying coral reefs
  • Vinisha Umashankar, India- A 15-year-old innovator and activist who has designed a solar-powered ironing cart with the potential to improve air quality across India
  • Thomas Crowther, Founder of Restor, Switzerland- A ground-breaking online platform connecting and empowering local conservation projects
  • Olugbenga Olubanjo, Founder of Reeddi Capsules, Nigeria- Solar-powered energy capsules making electricity affordable and accessible in energy-poor communities

They spoke about their work to help encourage and inspire the audience that they too can develop their own world changing ideas.

The event, hosted by filmmaker and adventurer James Levelle, closed with a special message from His Royal Highness, Prince William:

“I hope children and young people all around the world will join in with Generation Earthshot and share your big ideas. I really believe that your creativity, determination and ambition will make the difference and I can’t wait to see what solutions you come up with.”
