Media www.rajawalisiber.com – President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that the government continues to make improvements in the face of obstacles encountered during the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination program which is given free of charge to the Indonesian people.
This was conveyed in response to questions from the Government Spokesperson for Covid-19 Vaccination Reisa Broto Asmoro regarding the low level of realization of vaccinations for health workers.
“This is just the beginning, right, this vaccination starts with health workers (health workers), both doctors and nurses. Usually at the beginning there is management in the field that needs to be improved, ”he said in the center yard of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (27/01/2021).
The President revealed that until today there are only approximately 250 thousand health workers who have received the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, there has been a significant increase in the number in the last 1-2 days.
“Every day or two, the jump has been quite sharp, so a day can be 50 thousand (vaccinations),” added the President.
Furthermore, the President said, with 30,000 vaccinators in approximately 10,000 health centers and 3,000 hospitals, he is targeting 900 thousand – 1 million vaccinations per day.
“This is the target. But it does take time, it needs good field management and this is what I always continue to convey to the Minister of Health, “explained the President.
Answering Reisa’s question regarding the plan to start vaccination for the general public, the President said that currently priority is given to health personnel, followed by TNI-Polri and public service officers then to the public.
“This is according to what I said earlier. First, it is prioritized for health workers, doctors, nurses. This is priority. Then later the TNI-Polri and public services, as well as the community, will be together. I think in February, mid-February will be able to enter there, “he said.
On this occasion, the President also reminded again that in order to get out of the pandemic, vaccination must go hand in hand with discipline in implementing health protocols.
“Staying disciplined, wearing a mask, washing hands, maintaining distance are important because the key is there too. Apart from vaccinations, the second key is maintaining health protocols. Avoid crowds, reduce mobility everywhere, I think that is, “he said. (FID / UN)
