Media www.rajawalisiber.com – PT Pindad conducted joint research in support of National Defense and Security with 2 Faculties of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), namely the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) in the field of propellants and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) in the field of explosives detection equipment.
The Red and White Propellant Research Kick Off was held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 in the LPPM meeting room, CRCS ITB Building, which was attended by the Director of Technology & Development (Dirtekbang) PT Pindad, Sigit P. Santosa accompanied by the VP of Innovation along with the ranks and Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Institute ( LPIK), Sugeng Joko Sarwono and his staff from FTMD ITB. This research was conducted to bridge the gap in propellant manufacturing technology in Indonesia through the pilot plant scale propellant production process. With a better mastery of propellant technology, the large-scale propellant production process will be much faster to achieve.
This research was also carried out to develop new propellant compositions with better safety levels and better munitions performance. The program will run for 2 years according to the proposed roadmap. Propellant research to support the domestic propellant industrialization program.
In addition, Dirtekbang and Dean of FMIPA ITB, Wahyu Srigutomo also signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) and Confidentiality Agreement (NDA) between PT Pindad and FMIPA ITB for Research on Explosive Detection Equipment. PT Pindad and FMIPA ITB have developed a device that can detect explosives. It is hoped that this joint research can run well and produce a useful tool for relevant agencies in handling the threat of bomb terror.
