He conveyed this after seeing the seafood processing factory that carries out the export of processed products abroad at PT Bumi Menara Internusa (BMI), Lamongan Regency, East Java, Thursday, May 6, 2021.

“I think the production processes we see at PT BMI are an inspiration that actually the opportunities for our fishery products for the world market are still very promising. The market is wide open,” said the President in his statement after the review.

Even though the world market is wide open, the President assesses that the supply chain for raw materials in the form of shrimp, crab, crab, squid, and fish still needs to be improved so as to add value to these marine products for the country.

“I think that in the future this must be developed in our country, both from catches from the sea and from cultivation. This is a big task for the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) so that from upstream to downstream everything must be seen where there is a problem. and that must be resolved, “he explained.

In addition, the Head of State also appreciates all existing production at PT BMI which has absorbed tens of thousands of workers. In addition, the company also has an export orientation to Europe, America, Japan and other countries.

“This means that it has entered the global supply chain and the value is also not small because it is already in this form. This is shrimp, this is also shrimp, some are ready to eat, some are left fried. This is crab. What is produced at PT BMI, be it shrimp. , crab, fish, then squid, all in the form of packaging which is ready to serve and ready to fry, “he explained.

Also accompanying the President in the review were Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa. Lamongan, 6 May 2021
