“However, this potential must also be followed by a good scenario to enter into the energy transition. According to the President, it is necessary to prepare a clear road map such as funding and investment.”

Media www.rajawalisiber.com – Indonesia has great strength and potential in the renewable energy sector. President Joko Widodo said that Indonesia has 4,400 large and medium rivers that can be used as hydro power.

This was conveyed by the President in his remarks at the opening of the 10th Indonesia New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) ConEx 2021 at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, November 22, 2021.

“Let’s try two first, I convey to the Coordinating Minister, try two, Kayan River, Mamberamo River. The Kayan River has been calculated to be around 13,000 megawatts. Mamberamo can be around 24,000 megawatts,” said the President.

However, this potential must also be followed by a good scenario to enter into the energy transition. According to the President, it is necessary to prepare a clear road map such as funding and investment.

“The question is, what kind of scenario are we now? That’s what I assigned to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment and also to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, plus the Minister of SOEs. It’s only concrete, but the calculations are real, there are real figures,” he continued.

The President also asked to provide input to the government so that the energy transition scenario can work. However, the President reminded that the calculations should be done in detail.

“So that not only, oh, hydro power can be made in the Kayan River, geothermal power in this mountain can be made. Yes you can, I know everything can be done. But who bears the figures that I said earlier,” he added.

In addition, the President said that the energy transition will be brought into discussion at next year’s G20 in Bali. The Head of State hopes that in the G20 later the discussion on the energy transition scenario can be discussed more clearly.

“Once again I ask for input and detailed calculations, what are the figures for the increase, how much is the gap that must be paid for Indonesia alone, if it is met, then thankfully it can be formulated, “Sir, this step can be solved” “From this point of view it can be solved” What we hope is that when we meet, I can tell you later at the G20 in Bali next year,” he said.

Also attending the event were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, and Chairman of the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society Surya Darma.
