IPI-IMS 2022 Award Ceremony
Courageous and independent journalism took center stage at Columbia University in New York last Sept. 9, during the annual award ceremony at the IPI World Congress.
Media www.rajawalisiber.com – The IPI-IMS World Press Freedom Award was presented to Carlos Dada, editor-in-chief of Salvador’s pioneering online news site El Faro, harassed for years by governments and criminal organisations alike, and late Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, a leading woman journalist who was tragically killed by a Israeli sniper last May while on assignment on Palestinian territories.
The ceremony also put the spotlight on profound challenges and risks facing journalists in Ukraine. The jury presented the IPI-IMS Free Media Pioneer award to seven independent Ukrainian news outlets for their outstanding reporting on the Russian invasion.
