As it is known that the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane on the Jakarta-Pontianak route lost contact on Saturday (09/1/2021) afternoon at around 14:40 WIB. The plane carried 56 passengers, consisting of 46 adults, 7 children and 3 babies.
The TNI Commander expressed his deep condolences and sorrow regarding the tragedy of the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane which crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands. “I am sorry and condolences for the crash of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane,” he said.
According to TNI Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, from the results of the latest monitoring, the coordinates of the crash of the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 aircraft were obtained, according to the coordinates given from the last contact of the signal from the aircraft. “The TNI has deployed a team of divers from Denjaka and Kopaska TNI AL, and hopefully what is found by KRI Rigel 933 is precisely what we expected,” he said.

The TNI Commander said that the TNI fully supports the search and rescue efforts to find the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane that crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands under the command of Basarnas. “A number of Alutsista and TNI personnel were involved to support the search for the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 aircraft by deploying aircraft, helicopters and KRI and deploying dive teams from Denjaka and Kopaska TNI AL,” he said.
Furthermore, the TNI Commander said that the search process for the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 aircraft had progressed with the discovery of debris to the lifevest jacket by divers from Kopaska and Denjaka TNI AL. “As I said this morning when at the dock, KRI Rigel 933 had found a signal and after diving by Kopaska, several fragments of the plane were found, such as a lifevest jacket, then the color of the part of the plane was there and also part of the registration was 23 meters deep. , “he said.
The TNI Commander hopes that the evacuation process can be carried out immediately because from the information of divers the visibility under the water is currently quite good. “It was reported from the divers that the visibility under the water was also good and clear enough, making it possible if later parts of the plane were found, including the victims, until this afternoon hopefully they can be lifted if there is no change in the currents below,” he explained.
The deployment of TNI personnel, materials and Alutsista that were deployed to support the SAR Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 operation included 130 TNI AD (Kodam Jaya); TNI AL 1,218 people, material (6 Sea Riders, 6 rubber boats, 25 diving equipment), Alutsista (16 KRI, 3 helicopters); 50 Indonesian Air Force, Alutsista (2 Heli, 1 CN 295, 1 Boeing Strategic Reconnaissance) including 2 SAR Team Paskhas 12 people.
The total number of personnel: 1,398 people; Materials: 6 Sea Riders, 6 inflatable boats, 25 diving equipment; and Alutsista: 16 KRI, 5 Heli, 1 CN 295, 1 Boeing Reconnaissance.
