WHO Director-General Dr Tedros message for International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction

Media www.rajawalisiber.com – 13 October is designated as the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction by the UN General Assembly to promote a global culture of risk-awareness and risk reduction in communities and countries. The theme for the year 2021 highlighted the importance of ‘International Cooperation for Developing Countries to Reduce their Disaster Risk and Disaster Losses’.

WHO Director-General Dr Tedros reflected on the lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of solidarity. He highlighted the importance of universal health coverage based on strong primary health care, increasing gender equity and inclusiveness in our efforts, and compliance with the International Health Regulations and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
