Media www.rajawalisiber.com – Drug trafficking, human trafficking, environmental crime and cybercrime were among the key issues addressed during the 25th Americas Regional Conference held from 21 to 23 March, 2023, in Santiago de Chile.

Some 100 participants from 37 countries shared their insights and expertise towards developing a cohesive regional strategy.

Sergio Muñoz Yáñez, Director General of the Policia de Investigaciones de Chile (PDI), and conference host, said: “The term ‘globalization of crime’ is a reality that today plagues every part of our continent. A united and collaborative police community is the best strategy to tackle transnational organized crime. The values and principles that inspired the creation of INTERPOL 100 years ago remain more alive and permanent than ever.

To mark INTERPOL’s Centenary, all four regional conferences are being held in 2023. After the Asian edition in Abu Dhabi, the European session will take place in North Macedonia in May, with the African conference hosted by Angola in October, each bringing a regional perspective to global policing via INTERPOL.
