The Ministry of Transportation confirmed that the Sriwijaya Air plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route with flight number SJY 182 lost contact at 14:40 WIB.

“There has been a ‘lost contact’ of Sriwijaya aircraft on the Jakarta – Pontianak route with a SJY 182 ‘call sign. The last contact was at 14:40 WIB,” said the Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Novie Riyanto, to media crews in Jakarta, Saturday.

Novie said that he is currently under investigation and is being coordinated with the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).

“We will provide further information if there are other developments,” he said.

Julius said that the KRI that was deployed came from the Fleet I and Lantamal III Command, namely the KRI Teluk Gilimanuk which carried the personnel of the Frog Troop Command, KRI Kurai, KRI Parang.

Then, KRI Teluk Cirebon, KRI Tjiptadi, KRI Cucut-866, KRI Tengiri, as well as 2 Kopaska sea riders and 2 tugboats namely TD Galunggung and Malabar.
