Media www.rajawalisiber.com  – Russian Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy today (30 Nov) said allegations that the Russian Federation “has not fulfilled or implemented some of its obligations” on the Minsk agreement between Ukraine and Russia, “absolutely distort the sense of these agreements and it’s very dangerous.”

Speaking to journalists in New York, Polyanskiy said, “unfortunately, we see our Western partners, in particular, France and Germany to follow more and more this devastating path, which can lead us to some very dangerous developments, given the facts that Ukraine is citing everyday alleged reports on Russian military activity, on our plans to attack Donbass, and so and so and so on and so forth.”

Asked about a draft resolution on the implications of climate change for peace and security, the Russian diplomat said, “bringing climate topic to the Security Council and trying to affect, to enact such mechanisms as Chapter Seven of the Security Council, for example, might be very dangerous and instead of helping to fight climate change, it might trigger more divisions, more controversies in climate, in efforts to combat climate change.”

Turning to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), known as the Iran nuclear deal, Polyanskiy, said, “we are not very, very far from the restoration of the normal functioning of the JCPOA,” adding that “the whole issue right now, it’s it was triggered by the United States withdrawal by the previous administration from JCPOA. And that’s when the whole situation got out of hand. And what we are trying to do now is we are trying first and foremost, to reengage the United States there.”

He noted that “there are things that Iran has done. And a lot of people criticize this country saying that it has deviated from its commitments, but none of the steps that Iran has done is irreversible”

Asked about the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline between Germany and Russia, the Ambassador said, “it is something that is between Russia and Germany. So, I don’t know how US Congress is involved in it. Sort of difficult for me to see a link. They can ramble about anything they want.”
